It's important to know when to quit working out to prevent over-training. The best thing to do after you have worked out for 6 months to a year is to take at least 2-4 weeks off to let your muscles heal and recover.
Signs of over-training are:
- losing strength
- not motivated to workout
- and being susceptible to colds and flu
