Most people have heard the phrase no pain no gain. What most people don't know is the definition of pain. Pain is the bodys warning sign that its in jeopardy of being injured. A more appropriate phrase would be, if it hurts, don't do it. You may be performing an exercise incorrectly, or the exercise may not work well for you. As a Portland personal trainer I often tell clients, pain may also indicate that you have an injury you are aggravating by the exercise you are performing.
